About

Giton Studios (pronounced zhi-ton) takes its name from a character in Satyricon, one of Rome’s oldest surviving literary works. Giton is a handsome humorous troublemaker, a teenage slave and object of oft befuddled desire. He wields his influence with independence, making himself into a fickle source of laughter, longing, and suffering for everyone around him. Giton is a pebble in the boot of a giant, subverting authority while never escaping his subjectivity to it. It is this independent streak, simultaneously comical and serious, that gives Giton Studios its name.

Andrew Catalfamo is a photographer and filmmaker originally from Chicago, IL. He has a keen interest in documentary and human subjects, and enjoys observing the hidden nuances and cosmic jokes of everyday life. He pursued degrees in German literature and 20th century European history, making home in Austria, Bosnia, and Turkey along the way. His interests span multiple domains including psychology, philosophy, politics, music, and art.

In 2021 Andrew moved to Durham, North Carolina, and in 2023 he founded Giton Studios.
